Adventure 1 : Strength and Courage

Adventure 1 : Joshua 1 - 8

Be strong and courageous, Obey and learn the word of God and He will be with you. This would be how I would remember the book of  Joshua. As a leader, strength and courage are definitely traits that are valued. Looking at these traits in the book of Joshua, I think it is really important to remember that it is a strength and courage that comes from our living God. It is also two things that I too constantly pray for from God as I lead in the work that I do.

One quote I remember from the Princess Diaries movies is that "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement of something else that is more important than fear". If something is easy, it would not take a lot of courage to do it. It is when we feel hard-pressed on every side, that is when we need courage the most. It is when we know that we cannot do it without God, that we need courage to look beyond our fear and circumstances. Sometimes it takes courage to not think of our own selfish desires and to put others first. it takes courage to take a step of faith, to get out of the boat and walk on water. Trust God, put your faith in him, and that is a courage that would not fail you.

The story of Rahab, is like something that we can see in famous movie and book plots. The seemingly insignificant person plays an important part in the greater storyline and bigger picture of things. It must not have been easy Rahab to do what she did. She too showed courage in protecting her family and doing what she thought is right.

I always found the story of Jericho really interesting. Walking around a city, blowing instruments, multiple times. It does sound crazy!! I think it reflects how Joshua trusted and had faith in God's commands and promises.
